Belden - 3D cable illustrations

The challenge

Belden is a manufacturer of e.g. many different network cables, audio cables and electronic wires. Because there are multiple product combinations, product photography is very expensive and time-consuming. Moreover, some details cannot be photographed. That’s why Belden asked us to design a 3D visual of Belden cables. Because they wanted to use this visual in multiple media, they required a visual in isometric view with a transparent background that could be edited in Photoshop.

The process

Belden supplied the components in OBJ, STL and DAE, which we used as a foundation for the 3D graphic design. We created a library with different materials, so Belden is able to make variants of the 3D model quite easily.

The result

They can now use the graphic design file to highlight specific characteristics of its cables and produce images for different marketing communication purposes.
